Poppy – Peony ‘Black’ (Papaver paeoniflorum) is an annual plant that grows to a height of 2-3 feet with a spread of about 10 inches. It thrives in full sun and rich, moist, well-drained soil. 

The plant produces a ruff of gathered petals in a rare dark mahogany hue complemented by sea-green foliage, making it an attractive and unique addition to gardens. 

This variety is known for its luxurious blooms on strong, tall stems and is a great cut flower. It is also deer resistant and pollinator friendly

Seeds are best sown directly March-May. Can also be sown directly in August-September for flowers the following year. It’s a tall plant and may require staking.

This poppy is native to central and southeastern Europe and central Asia.

Chocolate Cosmos (Cosmos atrosanguineus ‘Chocamocha‘), is a unique flower that grows in growing zones 9-10 and requires full sun. It can be grown as an annual in cooler climates. Chocolate Cosmos has a compact growth; to a height of 1.5-2 feet and spread of 1 foot wide. 

The flowers are a deep chocolate red and it blooms from summer to fall, attracting butterflies and bees with its dark chocolate aroma.

Black Knight Scabiosa (Scabiosa atropurpurea) is an elegant and uniform cut flower that produces almost black blooms measuring 1 1/2–2 1/2″ on strong, slender stems. It is an annual plant with a medium growth rate that thrives in full sun and is suitable for growing in USDA Hardiness Zones 5-9. 

It blooms in the summer for approximately 6 weeks. Its dark blooms make it a striking addition to garden beds and floral arrangements.

 Palace Purple Coral Bells (Heuchera micrantha ‘Palace Purple’) is a perennial plant that thrives in USDA zones 4 to 9. It grows to a rounded mound of 15-24 inches in height and 12-18 inches in width.
