Blackberry Lily, sometimes called Leopard Lily (Iris domestica) is a charming perennial plant that thrives in full sun, reaching a height of 30-36 inches with a width of 18-24 inches. In summer, it graces the garden with its striking orange flowers spotted like a leopard with splashes of yellow and orange. 

The Blackberry Lily is a delightful addition to any garden, offering unique spotted blooms that attract pollinators, beautiful strappy green foliage and adaptability to various soil conditions.

One of the stand out features of this lily are its seed pods, which form into clusters of small black balls that are reminiscent of blackberries. These beautiful seedheads add continued interest through the fall and winter months, making it a great option for multi-season interest. Try planting Blackberry Lily in borders, containers or mixed perennial beds.

In my experience, Blackberry Lilies will reseed throughout the garden (I’m in Zone 7A), but not aggressively. I’ve noticed that the new plants don’t come true to seed. They are typically a solid yellow lily (but still very beautiful).
