I woke up to a beautiful site… the bushes that line the back of my property changed from basically twigs to bright yellow overnight. After doing a little bit of research on the old g-o-o-g-l-e, I found out that they are forsythia.

About.com describes them:  “These early bloomers sport the vibrant yellow flowers that have become a fixture of our spring dreams. Their flowers precede their leaves.”  I guess that’s why yesterday they looked like twigs, and today they have flowers. Perhaps in a few weeks they will fill in nicely with some leaves, giving me tons of privacy. I learn something new about this place every day!

The random covered object in my yard is actually a chiminea (fire pit).
